ART WORKSHOPS are a key tool when introducing Poetic Unity's programs to a community. Art is a universal language and can easily aid in raising the levels of participation among children and adults. Art also inspires and elevates the spontaneity and creativity innate in each child. It provides a safe space for children to freely express their ideas and share their concerns.
EDUCATIONAL AND VOCATIONAL WORKSHOPS are designed to help communities raise the level of involvement in their own social and economic development. They help build a sense of mutual appreciation and inspire collective responsibility. Ultimately, this learning experience will encourage participants involved to actively explore their opportunities and individual capabilities.
- UNDER EDUCATIONAL COMES art and environmental awareness, English as a second language, after school programs for extra help with homework, preventative health education, literacy and pyshical education.
- PEOPLE'S CHOICE VOCATIONAL WORKSHOPS hand loom works, recycled paper products, accessories made by nature, candle making, paja toquilla hand weaving, carpentry, ceramics, fishing, piNata making, stain glass and more...
SERVICE AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAM No organization can progress with out innovative minds to guide it. In collaboration with the University Poli-Tecnica of Chimborazo we established an internship volunteer program for continued support of our educational workshops in Olon.
AGRICULTURAL PROGRAMS Since agriculture is one of the major aspects of their daily life as is malnutrition we strive to educate and train community members to become self sustaining. In collaboration with the agricultural department from the University of Chimborazo programming will focus on: solutions to hunger, sustainable communities, organic farming, medicinal plants and herbs, raising small farm animals, environmental awareness and conservation.
SUPPORTING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AND CULTURAL PRESERVATION IN ECUADOR The full potential of the Ecuadorian Ecotourism – in both poverty reduction and economic growth – cannot be realized until greater opportunities are developed. Rural communities living in or near national parks and protected areas can do much to conserve the environment while sustaining their traditional livelihoods. A community can learn to develop and produce value-added products. Ecuador's natural areas holds great potential to contribute to the growth and dynamics of the Ecuadorian economy. Lets begin linking Ecuadorian guides and agencies to travelers within and abroad, help establish Ecuadorian-owned rural enterprises to add value to basic artisan commodities, and help link Ecuadorian manufacturers to markets that will improve livelihoods in the surrounding communities. Together we can make a difference.
