OUR MISSION SUPPORTING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AND CULTURAL PRESERVATION IN  DEVELOPING COUNTRIES. PRINCIPAL GOAL of our development program is to identify, promote and protect areas that are potential eco-tourism sections, focusing on adventure sports such as rock climbing, white water rafting, mountaineering, hiking, and bicycling. The active participation of local communities in all project stages is a must and encouraged to aid in strengthening communities’ capacity for meeting their social and economic needs, while conserving the environment and preserving their cultural heritage.  POETIC UNITY provides expanded access to education in targeted communities. In many instances, an initial community focus on education or preventative health education can benefit the community and serve to empower it to undertake more complex development programs.  Improving the quality of education in impoverished communities can greatly contribute to increasing ones’ ability to more meaningfully participate in economic opportunities.     Forming a Poetic Unity, together with our staff, The University Poli-Tecnica of Chimborazo, professionals in related fields, individuals, business’ and other organizations we ensure that proper technical expertise can be focused on meeting the main objectives of the program.   OUR FIRST AREA OF FOCUS IS ECUADOR In 2000 Poetic Unity began offering art and educational workshops in a small fishing village called Olón. In 2003 we expanded our operations to Riobamba, a small city in the mountain region. Today workshops continue to offer a sense of collective responsibility, educational support and job training for youth and adults.   2004 was an exciting year as we launched our long awaited Eco-Tourism Program. To promote responsible travel that conserves our natural environment and sustains the well being of the local communities. Our focus is on adventure sports begining with mountaineering which may include some bouldering and rock climbing. In 2005 we joined efforts with the Club de Andinismo- Espoch; an Association For Mountaineers, members of the National Rock Climbing Team of Riobamba and suppported efforts of the Secretary of Tourism in Riobamba, Ecuador. Be apart of your world and take action to promote responsible travel that sustains the well-being of a people. If you are interested in helping the Ecuadorian people please write to kimberly@poeticunity.org for further assistance.
